Gearing up for the big night in Grantham

With the opponent for his fight on the card of the next FIGHTMAXSFL show now confirmed, Newark professional kickboxer Bailey Sugden is promising fans, friends and family members another night to remember at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre in just a few weeks’ time.

On Saturday 11 March the 25-year-old British Bulldog will defend the 63.5kg ISKA World Title, which he won in the same venue back in March 2022, when he takes on the current ISKA European Champion, Pedro Ruiz from Spain.

Fighting under K-1 rules, the two go head to head in the main event of the night on a card which will also feature five more pro contests, including Suggy’s Gym‘s Chace Griffin fighting Spain’s Marcos Cruz for the vacant ISKA European Title at 57kg, with four huge pro fights still to be announced alongside several amateur match ups.

“I’m expecting a tough fight against Pedro, whose pro record includes 18 wins of which nine were by KO,” said Bailey.

“But he’s nothing I haven’t seen or dealt with before – I’m ready to defend my belt over in Grantham and all I can say is you can look forward to fireworks when I do so!”

“Despite Pedro being nearly 6ft tall and having a record which includes fights across Europe and beyond over the past few years, Bailey’s exciting and aggressive fighting style is guaranteed to make this one an absolute classic,” said his manager and head coach Dean Sugden.

Tickets for the show went on sale on Monday 16 January and are priced £750 for VIP Gold Tables of 10 with food, £600 for VIP Silver Tables of 10 and £40 each for unreserved Tiered and Balcony seating.

“Since we announced the ticket details just a while ago, reservations have been coming in thick and fast,” added Dean. “We’re expecting another sell-out crowd for this one so you need to call the ticket hotline 07816 840920 as soon as possible to make sure you’re part of that crowd cheering on Bailey and all of the other home fighters.

“And in the meantime, make sure you watch this space for full details of the official weigh ins, face offs and interviews which will be taking place on Friday 10 March.”
